BIOGRAPHY
Marie Kremer (born in 1982 in Nantes) is a painter.
Her practice is rooted in graffiti, which she has transformed into an artistic process centered on intention.
Introduced to the visual arts from an early age by her mother, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, she developed an instinctive relationship with creation. Even at school, her notebooks were filled with colorful pens and rainbow inks, and writing, both graphic and expressive, became her preferred gesture.
She discovered the world of street art and graffiti in the mid-1990s, carried by the rise of hip-hop culture. Captivated by its raw and free energy, she found in it a form of expression beyond rules and conventions, an invitation to leave her creative mark in the city.
Trained in applied arts at the Pivaut School in Nantes and at the Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués (LISAA) in Paris, she specialized in interior architecture and built an international career in high-end design between Paris, London, Cannes, Saigon and Geneva. These experiences enriched her with diverse cultural influences and sharpened her sensitivity to the interplay of colors, materials and refined textures. She learned to create atmospheres charged with emotion through light and the elements that shape space.
In 2020, following the passing of her mother, she felt the need to return to a more instinctive and emotional form of creation through painting. This turning point marked the beginning of her artistic journey under the name SWAYH, Shine With All Your Heart, a statement of her belief that the heart is the source of light. It also reflects her connection to intuition, as following one’s heart means shining from one’s essence.
Now based in Haute-Savoie, near Geneva, she draws energy and inspiration from nature, sports and travel.
After her most recent exhibitions in France and Switzerland, she continues to pursue a practice where graffiti, once wild and illegal, becomes motif, trace, intention tag and a vector of positive messages, the signature of her artistic universe.
